Radio killed the music star

It happens. You leave your Ipod at home. Or you're stuck waiting for the guy at Jiffy Lube to tell you that your anti-calibrating brugenheim needs to be replaced. Whatever the reason, sometimes you have no choice but to listen to the radio.

It's not all bad. I can never get enough of that blue-jeaned tiny dancer or that pretty young thing(PYT, as Jacko likes to call her).

What gives me anxiety are those overplayed, overrated songs I can't escape from (this seems to happen mostly while I'm waiting for my extreme chipotle shrimp salad at that fun, trendy chain restaurant with the yard sale on the walls). You know what songs. You hear them every day. In some cases, you've been hearing them every day for the past 15 years. It makes my skin crawl hearing how something starts in your toes, crinkles your nose while getting a kiss from a rose. If I hear one more time about that one hand in your pocket with the other giving a high five, I may just vomit as you soak up the sun. You don't wanna miss a thing? Fine. I get it.

I have a list of songs I could permanently delete from all playlists if I had the power. Unfortunately this list has gotten so long that I find myself repeating, "this one is on my list". I used to like the radio. I was once heavily into classic rock and could find plenty of stations who would cater to my needs. I still can, if I want to get in touch with the dark side of the moon.

Doesn't look like we're headed in a good direction. I'm hearing less and less of those British foursomes and more and more of those Nickelbackin' foursomes. It's a shame that there are amazing bands like Anberlin out there that don't get this exposure. A bigger shame is that people are force fed these radio rock bands and pop "idols" and think it's the best there is. Ok, I suppose it is creative and groundbreaking that you discovered "you" rhymes with "true"...and "heart" rhymes with "apart". Enough. Anyway, unless I can write something as brilliant as the White Album, I guess I'll have to shut up and listen.
